candidate Search

Postby taroon » 17 Jun 2009, 08:59

I have installed CATs on a shared hosting server running Linux with PHP5 and Mysql. Everything is working great except that the search function (both the quick search and advanced search) on the Candidates module do not appear to be doing a search of the candidates (we have 50,000 + candidates). For example a search for Warsaw as a City brings no candidates up yet we have candidates who are in Warsaw. Unfortunately I do not have shell access and so can not install Sphinx.

Any ideas what I can do to get the search function working?

Many thanks.

Hi, glad that the software is helping you out - but 50,000 candidates is allot for a non-optimised search! The quick search doesn't search all the fields. However the alternative quick workaround is to use the filter search on the Candidates page.

Just click 'filter' and choose 'City' in the Drop-down, then Warsaw..

Just a slightly different workflow. There are some webhost who've posted here to say they're happy to install sphinx for you - so perhaps you just need a changed webhost?
