Pro's
looks promising in terms of features - seems to include resume parsing as well, and is a sourceforge project
got an online demo

Con's
Not released any files yet
the interface looks very database driven at the backend. More candidate focussed rather than vacancy focussed.

The downloadable version is now available at http://www.openapplicant.org. It was launched Monday.

Looks interesting, but (slightly cynically) just concerned it's another 'cut-down' version waiting for you to upgrade to the paid-for services at http://www.mytoptalent.com/
I very likely could be wrong (haven't dug into it) but I've seen that marketing strategy too many times!

Hey Russ,

Actually, the services you see at www.mytoptalent.com are included in the Open Applicant free version. We do have additional professional services that we offer, such as hosting, test grading, data migration etc, but the version that you can download from Sourceforge is the one and only Open Applicant version that we offer. So, if you are tech saavy or have an IT department you can download it, use it on your own server, and modify it as needed.

So, although we do offer the professional services, we do not give you a striped down version of the product for free. What you see is what you will get, regardless of if you want the enterprise hosted version or our free download. :)

Doesn't seem like a very robust system, and the fact that it is a tomcat app doesn't attract me. For an ATS tomcat probably isn't the right technology. Also, as mentioned above, it is very focused on a candidate with the entire system being focused on candidates, when all of the information available could be on one screen of an ATS.

Maybe good for keeping track of some candidates for internal hire, but even then, not a very intuitive interface / system.

Tonnic,

thanks for the confirmation - but it does seem a fair bit more active than OpenCATS. Maybe I could learn a thing or two!

Tomcat - agree completely, bloody tomcat is the bane of my life as it's at the heart of the exchange replacement app - Scalix, and everytime I do a point upgrade, Tomcat breaks.

I just reviewed this and was initially very excited about a true GPL app. But, I can't figure out how to install it (I'm a slow....end-user :) ) and I checked out the demo...I don't see any job and client stuff at all? It looks as though it's built for an internal ATS type function.
